Kim Eang Tong

  Introduction
Kim Eang Tong is probably the only temple in Singapore dedicated to Jin Ying Sect, which was started during the Qing dynasty by Hakka priest Lin Xian Jiang. His diciple Chen Fei Long brought Jin Ying Sect to South East Asia.
Kim Eang Tong was founded in 1961 at Thomson Road 7th milestone (aka Jio Sua, which means Stone Hill in Hokkien), and for this reason the temple was initially known as "Stone Hill Kim Eang Tong". The founders of Kim Eang Tong are Hu Jin Fu (abbot), Chen Jin Mu and Yang Gui Rong. The trio sought the help of Zhang Guan Hu, a master in Jin Ying Sect's Talisman Skills. Zhang taught at Kim Eang Tong until he passed away in 1978, and he is remembered by the tablet installed in the temple.
In 1978, Kim Eang Tong partnered with Kong Lim Kong and Leng San Giam to purchase 30-years leasehold land from Housing & Development Board to build Ang Mo Kio Joint Temple. The united temple was completed in 1983, and was rebuilt in 2011 after renewing its land lease.
